Handsome Dave is back!! This time, he's not only giving high fives but he's handing out a festive cup of kindness. May Peace and Love be to all in this winter season.
Recorded on the Winter Solstice 12/21/2013
This is an album of Traditional Public Domain Holiday songs recorded in 2013 and given out as Holiday gifts to friends and family. For the first time ever its now available on YouTube and on my Bandcamp page to download for free or pay what you want.
"Handsome Dave was born in Palm Springs, then moved to the Finger Lakes where he learned how to play banjo. Shortly after, he moved to the Philadelphia area where he found work as a handyman. Handsome Dave has volunteered at the Philadelphia Folk Fest where he has worked as a stage hand."
All jokes aside, I started the writing persona of 'Handsome Dave' in 2013 as a way to get back to my roots of Folk music. I had been getting too electronic and making Experimental Noise and Halloween music. I made 5 EP's as Handsome Dave which were mostly terrible Parodys, traditional Public Domain songs and Originals. Its like if Weird Al and Mojo Nixon had a Child. Most were recorded quickly in one afternoon then released as a joke. For this album I decided to clean up and make an inoffensive instrumental Christmas album.
Why the hand? Why not the hand?
What started out as a Halloween decoration turned into a Festival prank and then led to me meeting Wayne Coyne and Sean Lennon and giving the hand to them. Though, that wasnt the last hand, I had one hand left and I planted it in a friend's garden. Let's hope it grew into a "Palm Tree".
This was "hands down" the best prank over. I gave thousands of high fives to many smiling faces all over the country. Some didn't realize it was a fake plastic hand until after they high fived it.
